Maxilla

The maxilla, also known as the upper jaw, is one of the central bones of the facial skull in humans and many other vertebrates.

It forms a significant part of the face and the upper jaw, contributing substantially to the structure of the nasal cavity, the palate, and the upper dental arch. The maxilla supports the upper teeth and plays an important role in chewing and speaking. It consists of two halves that meet and fuse at the center of the face, at the upper lip.
